Saturday Stash

I fell in love with this range a while ago and bit the bullet and purchased 10 FQs from

I also purchased grey solid to mix in, don't quite know what to do, keeping it simple blocks or triangles....

I visited a local fabric store today Owl and Sewing Cat

And purchase a couple of reds form Amy Butler Lotus collection, as my red stash is really low, and there just doesn't seem to be mush on the market that doesn't contain snowflakes, or spots which I have, but want to inject florals, abstracts etc, to get a perfect red and white quilt.

I also purchased from them the grey solid and the backing to my Nostalgia quilt in a deep red, burgundy, so will sew that together tomorrow.

Off to sew a few dolls quilts as my Paris Doll kit arrived yesterday and she is sewn and ready for a new photo shoot with a few quilts.

Make - Flannelette Quilting Wall

One of my best buys!

I puchased some months ago a king sized Brushed Cotton Flannelette sheet off Ebay, think it cost me about £6.00.

This is only half a sheet! I have high ceilings and this goes from floor to ceiling!
I staple gunned it to the wall, even sewn pieces stick to it.

Gives you a chance to play around with patterns, and just cover it in colour!!

You will have to excuse the bad lighting, I will try again at the weekend, without flash back - at the moment I do not see my house in daylight until Saturday and Sunday's!

Nostalgic Quilt - in the making

My latest quilt top

Using nostalgic fabric prints of yesteryear, a country cosy cuddle look
I have used jelly roll strips for this.

The backing is going to be in this super feedsack, and I am hoping to frame the front in piece before edging in a mustard or sage floral binding from my stash.

Make - Easy Pinwheels

Make Quilting Pinwheels

I stumbled upon this tutorial on another blog, but do you think I could find it, no.
I am no even sure if it an old method or newly invented by a talented quilter.
So if you are that talented person - thank-you and let me know so I can link back to your work.

I used 2 x 5" squares, but this works with any size squares
1 plain white the other is Amy Butler soul blossoms

First over lay the two pieces,
then sew a 1/4"  running stitch around the entire edge

Next using your ruler and rotary cutter (if you own one)
cut a diagonal line from one corner to the other

Cut complete

Making sure your 2 pieces are back together
cut a further diagonal line from the other 2 corners

You will now have 4 triangles

Open out each triangle
Press open all in the same direction towards your patterned fabric

Then arrange them ready for sewing together

take one top piece and overlay on the other top piece
sew a 1/4" seam (mine will be on left)

Trim off the excess

Repeat this process for the bottom 2 pieces

Press open
(at this point I still didn't think it would meet in the middle - need more faith in work!)
Lastly overlay your 2 halves sew a 1/4" seam

Press open - and trim square
Finished
