Two Pillow Cushions finished

Finally got around to finishing 2 strip pieced cushions.
I have been spending far too much time, just playing
My list of things to make is getting longer!
If only we didn't have to earn money to purchase fabric.
If off to Bulgaria on Sunday
To mother-in-laws (without Hubby!!)
Kind of a working holiday, Sunday to Thursday so have 3 days to recover a sofa and 2 armchairs. If worked out cheaper for her to purchase the fabric in Bulgaria, fly me out, and I sew than pay for 20 metres of furnishing fabric over here. Then I get to go horse riding in the mountains when I'm finished! (hence when hubby is not coming).
Mum-in-law and her hubby moved out there when they retired, cheaper to live, get to live in a backward village, grow grapes, and drink home-made wine. The type of lifestyle you wouldn't get here in the UK.
Have been putting off quilting my Nostalgic quilt, but need to spend an hour or so on it to make a start!

CUSHION TIME

New cushion delivery next week, and am expanding my cushions sizes to 12" square, 16" square and 20" square, so sizes for everybody, problem I am having is having time (erm not sitting at the computer reading blogs time), to create new cushions, If I sell a cushion I think will sell again, I remake it for sale (sell what sells, I say!!) and this week sold 2 white BAM cushions, a camouflage skull (only in the shop 24hrs) and the popular black and red on white skull, so had to make these 4 again in 12" before venturing onto any new ones, so in my laziness I have only made the pink on black skull in the new 12" and a Red POW in the new 12".
Hopefully more to come this week, although My Mum has been waiting for a small teapot teacozy for I don't know how long!! and as its Mothers day, and she is coming to stay I had better get making one, plus write my list now of what to do when I get in from work and tick off as I go...
  • Tea cozy for Mum - Monday
  • Lavender Heart or Owl for Mum - Tuesday
  • Clean, make bed in spare room for Mum - Wednesday
  • Clean scrub house/ windows / cupboard doors - Thursday (in one night! oh dear)
  • Make cushions, drink wine, tidy up, watch lost, any ironing (not happening)

COMICBOOK SUPERHERO CUSHIONS

These massive 21" cushion covers are a custom order. In London Bus red, with a green & pink POW!, yellow and purple BAM! in felt. And zip closures along the bottom.
Felt from Paperfish on Folksy.
I think they look quite striking, and I love the size, they are going on a sofa, but they are almost floor cushions, which would also look good on the floor of a kids bedroom or even the lounge floor!

MORE SKULLDUGGERY.........

Another Custom Skull Cushion 16", sold from my baby blondedesign shop on folksy using the retro fabrics for the skull picked up for the upcycle competition. My Customer wanted a brown or denim cushion but saw the fabrics on the denim upcycled 10" cushion and asked if I could use those and put on the brown fabric used on another cushion, I love it.
What do you think............Kx

ANOTHER BONE TO PICK.........

This is a custom order for a blue cushion in blues and reds, hoping the customer likes it!
I am quite liking the coloured cushions, and all the custom orders I have made have asked for coloured cushions rather than white!
So my new next few cushions are going to be in colours, which is great as I have lime, red, blue and brown linen ready to go........

SUERYDER UPCYCLE COMPETITION

My Entry into the Sue Ryder Upcycle Competition
And this is how I got there.....

Take one pile of fabrics & an old zip from a charity shop......
Sew the strips of denim together for the cushion cover
Cut out the skull shapes
I was quite amused at with the mouth made with the fabric pattern!

The back sewn together..........

The front & sides sewn together.........
The Hidden Zip......
The Words..........
10" Hand cut out skull 'n' crossbones over stitched to cushion front.
Psychedelic Ab Fab Skull!
For this I used denim jean legs cut up into strips as the cushion cover on both sides, the jeans came from The Salvation Army, an old 70's tablecloth / or curtain fabric was used for the eyes and bones and another super soft 70's curtain fabric as the skull, these 2 fabrics came from the Salvation army furniture store which near me sells 'remnants' of old fabrics, the opening at the bottom has a recycled bottle green and metal zip, with the word 'lightening' on the pull! this zip came from an old holdall of mine. It is machine embroidered around the skull and bones.
If you love this cushion please add it to your favourite items. So I have a chance of winning the competition
Enjoy! K x

LOLLIPOP CUSHIONS FROM SANTA!!

BY BLONDE DESIGN
Just uploaded these to folksy, country charm meets lollipop flowers! I have inherited my fathers very large stash of beautiful fabrics, from herringbone weaves to tweeds, all are ex-military, or quality suiting 100% wool fabrics, which would cost the earth to by in the right shop, all have have been stashed away in a trunk, and now take pride of place (admittedly a very large space, and they weigh a ton), in my fabric cupboard.
I knew I wanted to do smart cushions with these without trying to be to cheesy or them looking to dated, if you catch my drift. Perfect for cuddling up on the sofa in front of the fire and a mug of hot chocolate. If anybody else has any other ideas on what to embellish on the front, let me know, and if you come up with an idea I will use, I will send you your very own cushion!
I have priced them at £20 for the large ones and £15.00 for the smaller ones, I know I could go higher, because if I had brought the fabric, there wouldn't be a profit, but then I am less likely to sell more. Kx

PINK FRIDAY CUPCAKES!

WOLLYWOTNOTS BLOG
I have been featured on Wollywotnots blog along with lots of lovey cupcake stuff!!! go take a look via the link below. As yet I am still not so good at putting the link inside a nice title say 'pink Friday cupcakes' so if anybody can help me with that one task, it means I get to learn something new today.....
How funny, I went to the hospital today to have 3 moles removed - Lets just say, I have the skin of my fathers, he was a ginger nut, and they say you go out with people who look like your parents, and lets just say many years ago I had an unhealthy shark like, hunt for redhead men/boys to date or snog! (ah did you ever call it sharking?!), anyway back to the story, got in to theatre, with my denim wedges still firmly attached to my feet, only to find out the surgeon didn't have a clue which one he was removing off my back, as my back is like dot to dot. And as I can't see my back, I was not sure which one it was, so he spend 5 Min's taking photos on his mobile of my bare back and showing them to me...... I was still none the wiser and we decided only to remove the 2 moles I knew, oh and the surgeon did delete the photos from his phone, much to the amusement of the nurses. I'm guessing the wife may have had something to say other wise..........Kx

THE AMERICAN DREAM

The American dream, New England, Coastal, Shabby Chic or just simply Patriotic! Just don't know what way to describe these two pure linen cushions. Originally made with boys in mind, but then again anybody with a 'seaside' look or white washed floorboards and worn chairs could also sit them on the sofa. I may even look at doing the design in reverse colours and the star design I guess would also sell on its own in other colours............what do you think?

PERSONALISED APPLIQUE NAME PILLOW

I have made these pillows so they can be customised by the client. This pillow measures 10x10. I can do 6 letters comfortably - this one have 5 but the M takes up huge amount of space. I can add more, they will just be smaller in size. Less letters will be larger in size. I have used a white cotton calico for the front and a nice assortment of designer fabrics for the applique letters and for the back of the pillow Laura Ashley pink spot. The back of the pillow opens so that you can remove the pillow insert to wash.
I will have other colors available Laura Ashley Green spot and Laura Ashley baby blue spot - just need to get making to give people an idea.

CUSTOM LISTING LARGE SKULL N CROSSBONES CUSHION

Just finished a custom order being packed off to America, to match a little boys room which has blue bedding and orange and lime skull's, so it was a nice challenge to find some fabric in oranges and limes with a hint of blue and brown but that was not girlie!
I would love more custom orders like this...
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26700407

DOES ANYBODY ELSE HAVE THESE PROBLEMS?! AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS AND SENDING PICS OF WHAT THE CUSHION WILL LOOK LIKE AND SAYING IT WILL BE LIKE MY OTHERS (NOTE ALL ARE IN WHITE), THAT SHE NOW WANTS IT IN CHOCOLATE BROWN, AND I DID ASK IF SHE HAD ANY PREFRENCES THAT I HAD NOT MENTIONED OR SHOWN........

HOLLINGDALE DESIGNS BUTTONS

I have finally used 4 of the zebra buttons I brought from Hollingdale designs, my photos are not to good today! but I need to make a couple of baby booties in white, with black soles and a red heart on sole!

I have just brought these beauties from Jill (I have a feeling I am going to be one of her favorite customers), I will wait till they arrive before chosing the felt to match, but I feel a 3 stripe (vintage addidas) look going on.

What do you think of the baby bib apron? now all I need is a baby to photograph with my clothing! Mmmmmm my Hubby thinks I am going slightly mad, he knows I am sooooooo clucky, so cross the little fingers in hope.
I have started to separate my baby items from http://www.blondedesigns.etsy.com/ to http://www.babyblondedesign.etsy.com/ as I feel there is so much going on and I make to many things. Most people have very pretty web pages and I am now beginning to believe in the old saying 'keep it simple stupid'
