Liberty Like Classics

I like most of you love liberty fabrics.

I'm thinking most of us have a small stash amongst the others!

Problem I always had and I guess, the same for most is the cost when sewing something big!

When you are looking at a minimum of £5 per fat quarter for the cheapest I have seen but averages £5.60 - £6.00.

So sewing a king size quilt - Liberty Style is going to cost a fortune!!

Getting the Blues

I have been checking different makes and classics not necessary the latest limited design out there, as want to be able, like the liberty fabrics supply them as all rounder long term classics.

Pink Flush

But as well as using them for large patchwork, even floaty floral dresses, think about classic garden setting table cloth, napkins accents against white, curtains, bunting & blinds - the list is endless.

Rosey Red

So for me now I can sew that king size classic quilt throw I always wanted with scalloped edges!!
Heavily quilted.

So these fabrics I have put together are smooth 100% cotton poplin.
which will be priced at £1.50 fat Quarter or £6.00 a metre
And I will do mini sample packs as well, to check them out.

Rose & Hubble Cotton Poplin

Rose & Hubble Cotton Poplin

Cotton Poplin £1.50 FQ - £6 metre
Perfect for Dressmaking, baby clothes, pretty summer curtains & quilting, easy sew 100% cotton
Perfectly Priced

Cotton poplin explained, is a similar weight at most quilting fabrics per square inch, even those these vary manufacture to manufacture (Art Gallery Fabrics are very similar in feel).
But the difference is the cotton strands are slightly thinner, the weave is tighter which gives cotton poplin its smooth feel.

It glides easy through the sewing machine, you will gain less shrinkage
and is perfect for everything also due to the price from curtains, tablecloths, quilting & dress making.

I will be stocking up on more colours each month.

Finished Nostalgic Quilt

Quilt Front
Quilt Back
Deep red with tiny white spots, a large strip of the mustard feed sack fabric and a thin strip of the multi vintage style floral left over from the piecing of the front
Binding
Mustard Floral Binding which I sell in my shop
View from above

Last night I finished hand binding the back this baby at midnight, promptly stuck it in the washing machine and waiting for it to finish so I could get it dry for a photo shoot today! (Otherwise I would have to wait a week and sunshine before being able to go again).
Super soft and a rather large lap quilt to snuggle under on the sofa.
So Quilt 2 for 2012 finished.

New Scrummy Bias Bindings

Candy Stripes
 Polka Dots
 and more....
 Cute Ginghams
 And more.......
 Pretty Florals
 and more...........

My sewing room is fast becoming a sewing notions super store, problem is I sit and stare and think of what shall I make first with them (never mind finishing the 2 quilts, 10 aprons, stack of driftwood hearts, and the pile of pincushions...), just maybe i'll make a few hot pot mats with bias bound edges, or i'll just drool over filling up the candy store with jumbo pompom trim I have found in 12 fab colours, coming soon.
