Make Boho Cushion

Boho Cushion 16"

All you need
1 pack mini charms (or 25 x 2.5" squares)
2 x 1.5" by 11" strips (mine in snow)
2 x 1.5" by 13" strips (mine in snow)
2 x 2.5 by 13" (mine in spot)
2 x 2.5 by 17" (mine in spot)
1 piece of batting at least 16" square
1 FQ fabric for reverse
(1 for front 1 for reverse, these could be the same or different)

I have used Boho by Urban Chik's for Moda
Moda Essential dots in Cocoa
Moda Basics in snow

Also 1 zip, full length unless you make an envelope opening

Use 25 of the 42 charm squares
in rows of 5 x 5
Also shown are the other front pieces laid out

Using 1/4" seams for everything
sew your rows of squares together
as above and press

Next join the rows together
press, thats the middle complete!

Taking your 2 x 1.5" by 11" strips
mine in snow

Sew  the 2 strips to each end of your squares
iron and trim

Repeat this step for the longer
2 x 1.5" by 13" strips
iron and trim

taking your 2 x 2.5 by 13"
sew to each end of your square
iron and trim

Repeat this for your 2 x 2.5 by 17"
on each side and trim

now trim cushion to 16" square

taking your wadding piece
lay your cushion front on it - pin

Then Quilt
I have quilted mine in tram lines either side of the seams created by the squares.
Put aside

Reverse - envepole opening
take your FQ
longer lengtherr horizontal
cut in half
so you should end up with 2 pieces
approx
50cm x 28cm or 20" x 11"

On one of the longer edges fold iron and fold again
I have zigzaged stitched to show edge

On other edge I have bound in bias binding
but this can also folded, ironed and sewn.

Trim your longer edges to 16"
lay this right sides together on cushion front
pin and sew all edges and sew again,
this to make sure you catch all fabric and to reinforce seams
The cushion will end up approx. 15 1/2 " square
this always makes a 16" infil look plumper

Make Windows Cushion

Windows Cushion 16"

All you need
1 pack mini charms
2 FQ fabrics
(1 for front 1 for reverse, these could be the same or different)

Bella Basics Solid in Black

Also 1 zip, full length unless you make an envelope opening

Use 36 of the 42 charm squares
in rows of 6 x 6

From 1 FQ on the shorter edge
cut 4 x 2" strips (for the frame)
cut 12 x 1" strips (for the window panes)

I personally do not cut my strips down into 2.5" lengths but you can.
I sew, iron then trim - it works for me :-)
Not forgetting all seams ar 1/4"
So your strip will end up half inch

Repeat until all rows look the same as above.
(Or 10 times neater than mine!)

Now repeat using long strips
to join the rows together

Another one added

All joined, iron and trim up
mine is not perfect - but that is the beauty of home made
seeing your own quirks

Next using the 2" wide strips
attach top and bottom, iron trim to 16.5"

Then repeat for the two sides

Should end up with something like this

At this point you could quilt it to wadding.
I didn't - I forgot!
But very much like it clean looking.

Lastly take your 2nd FQ
keeping the longer length trim the shorter side down to 17"
about 21" x 17"

Then approx 6" in cut, so you have
2 pieces 17" x 6" & 17" x 15"

The last 2 edges you cut need to be overlocked
(the 17" edge)
turned over about and inch and turned again so no raw edges show.

The large piece will butt up against the zip - sew
The smaller piece will then sit over the zip, hiding it.
Pin first - sew - avoid sewing over the zip

Finished hidden zip

Lastky - which i didnt photograph
trim the backing down to 16.5" x 16.5"
Lay the front and back right sides together
pin - make sure you have the zip open enough to turn inside out!
Sew all edges and overlock

Turn right side out

If you have a larger cusion to cover just make the boarder frame bigger,
so if a 20" cushion make the 2" strips to 4"

Quilting in Pantone....

Well it looks like lemon zesty & grey alloy or tidal foam will still stand the test of time in bang up to date quilts & cushions.
Perfect still my favourite colours of the moment.

I'm quite liking the idea of the poppy red, Monaco blue with linen colour rather than white
Some cool quilts and cushions in colour blocking do you think.
Now where did I park that yacht of mine.....

Then taking all the cool blue / greens from the emerald, greyed jade, dusk blue and tender shoots, wouldn't that also make a beach hut vibe quilt..

Now African Violet, this is the sort of colour that gets left at the bottom of the pile.
Maybe for once mixing the Violet with the Nectarine (toned down tangerine), mix in a bit of tidal foam and Monaco Blue, going for a denim look for a hippy chick quilt.

Looks like I may have just talked myself into some quilts to add to the list to make.....
Free Kona Cotton Jelly Rolls of cool, warm and dark are welcome in my home, anytime.
actually if the world is listening then any free fabric is welcome in my home,
rent is free, no bills to pay, get their own home (white studio cabby hole).
Somebody to listen to, mainly me talking to myself over my sewing machine.
What more could they ask for...

p.s Very Sunny Weekend in UK in south, I have quilts that need photographing on the beach.
New photos will be uploaded on Saturday night.
Some of of older quilts which the original pictures I took were naff to say the least.
And finally finished, my green squared twin quilt, a navy & white Argyle Quilt with red stitching
(should have done it Monaco blue, linen with the red THEN I would be super on trend....!LOL

A Mini Rainbow of Pillows 'cushions'

Finally finished putting these together, after waiting for the inner pads to arrive in the post,
so I could then get them photographed.
(trying to find a long empty plain wall to do this ended up being a nightmare, sometimes Victorian houses, with pretty fireplaces and no spare spaces, makes me hank after a 1970's super square white box!
No red pillow, as my red stash was low, and no purple, so need to stock up on some of those fabrics.. then the rainbow would have been complete, instead I have a light pink one instead!
