Well what can I say, I'm a Blonde Essex Girl now living on the South Coast by the Sea.
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember I got my sewing machine when I was 13/14 years old
(and I still use the same old one today.) along with another two machines.
I guess my late father taught me to sew, he was a pattern cutter - Tailor in the uniform and clothing industry, making regimental uniforms for the Army, Navy, Police, Regimental Bandsman even the London Royal Ballet Company. He refitted old Regimental Tunic Trench coats to Annie Lenox & Dave Stewart for a pop video in the 80's.
I made my first ever kick pleat skirt for school at 14/15, on the professional lover lockers, button holes, steamers at the factory where my dad worked in London. And was chuffed with going home one weekend with a donkey jacket (intended for the dustmen of the day), which were in high fashion in the 80's (trust me - think Dexys Midnight Runners).
