Its been a while......

And I'm back......

To cut a long story short, I have had an eventful year. At some point when I stopped writing the blog, sewing, selling and anything crafty, back in January, I stopped took one look at my life and did what others may find drastic, but trust me I am one happy bunny doing it my way.

I decided to get divorced (now divorced - I worked fast lol!) did up my house, put it on the market, sold it, got a job back in London, up my not so rooted roots back to Essex, rent a little barn, lost a stone and half, took up running, and purchased a very fast sports car :-).

Now I'm ready to rock and roll. I have relaunched my shop but still so much to do and a web design team looking at it next week to sort those things I can't, like side bars and computer language speak that goes right over my head!

So now to get on a sew, I already have orders from friends up here and now much easier to organise.

My shop which I'm investing in, is building up, so watch this space as I gain more fabrics not just the basics. I have started with the basics as we all need stash fillers those fabrics to bulk up those quilts, dots to line purses, solids to window frame cushions. The fabrics Bella solid basics, Moda Essential Dots, All Dottie range, Half Moon chevron and spots and  the rest to follow, along with new ranges as the come out. All sold as FQ but colour bundles also available in Fat 8ths - if you are wanting a custom colour bundle let me know as fat 8th (minimum 3 per bundle).

Not forgetting my love and passion of bias bindings, (don't ask - even I don't know why!) I now stock at the last count over 230! lace, dots, gingham's, stripes, floral, fruits, 18mm, 25 & 30mm. I defy you not to find one you like, but if you cant then let me try!

And the ever soooo cute mini candy charms by Moda, I am about to make some cushions in these for myself so will keep you posted.

Hope you all had a good weekend, its good to be back.

Party On

Felt Garlands
What do you you do when you realise your felt is over flowing,
and you want to find ways of getting it to make money for you
rather than it going to waste, as I don't use it as much as I used to..
I got my sidekick cutter out, finally got around to purchasing a few different size circles
and got cutting, and I haven't even made a dent in the felt pile.
Problem now is I will want other colours to match those I do have to make more garlands.
(I never ending circle! such a bad pun!!)
Sugar & Spice garland
Pretty in Pink garland
Sugar & Spice mini bunting
Loop ends and cute buttons
More loop ends and buttons
Vintage blue floral bunting
Pretty.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everybody!!
Did you get any crafty sewing in over the holidays?
I didn't dust mine down until New Years Eve,
the little bits I photographed today

After purchasing super soft sunggly fleece,
I thought I would made some small quilted blankets for baby strollers, buggies and car seats.
This one is 18" x 27"
Made with 5" squares (4 x 6)
Hopefully will made great gifts for newborns!
And to match...
Baby burp cloths, I guess not your everyday one, but the posh ones you take out!
(match your outfit!)
I made a shaped pattern for the neck
These use 1/2 a FQ 9 x 18 before sewn.
If you are interested in the pattern, let me know.
And I can scan in and upload for you to download...
Same baby burp cloths in Tilda baby pinks and mint.
These are backed in cotton towelling
I will be finishing a quilted blanket in this one too.
When I get my iron back..........
Hubby lent it to our young neighbour last night and hasn't been home since..
If you are also back to work tomorrow,
I will be there with you in the office for 8am.........
Strong coffee, I probably will be starving hungry all day from being able to pick at food
any-time in the last 10 days!

Liberty Print Patchwork Star Tutorial

Liberty Print Fabric
Patchwork Star Decoration Tutorial
With Christmas fast approaching,
now is the time to add those last little touches to your home!

I have made this 5 pointed patchwork star decoration
using 5 different Liberty Print fabrics
Starting at the top clockwise; Florabunda,  Mitsi, Wiltshire, Capel & Hera

Taking your pattern piece cut 5 separate diamonds for the front
and then another 5 for the back
Click here for the pattern download

taking 2 pieces sew together and press open

leave a 1/4" unsewn in the centre of the star
do this on all seams

Join the next piece, press open
You will now have 3 joined together

I find it easier to press seams open as shown
so you don't get a bump

Taking the last 2 pieces sew these together
and press open

Now join these 2 sets together
and press open

Last seam, join and press
it may have a little bump in the middle but this will be hidden
once stuffed and buttons added!

Repeat the steps above for the other side

I use approx 25cm of ribbon, ric rac or string for the loop
with right sides of the stars together
insert the loop from where you want your top of the star to be.
In between fabric with the cut edges hanging out, pin

Sew all edges together leaving a small opening,
I tend to leave the opening one one of the bottom edges.
Cut off the excess fabric on the tips

Turn right side out and fully stuff
slip stitch the opening closed

Find two cute buttons, and the longest needle you can find
I broke into my Pin Cushion Button Jar that I purchased in Liberty's!

Sew a couple of stitches pulling tight before sewing on a button on each side
Now you are finished!

I have been lucky enough to be featured in The Liberty's Blog on their website
with my Elf Stocking tutorial
Excited, its like Christmas came early!!
I would love for you to take a look
There are also other tutorials for you to try out.

And if you are looking for gifts for her your wonderful wife, girlfriend or lover!
Then check these out, but as I am the one most likely to be in Liberty's buying, I can buy these for myself (Shhhh!)......
