TIME FLIES!

Where does the week go! I didn't feel like sewing all week, I think it was the weather change, going to work in the dark at 6.30am and arriving home in the dark at 6.30pm, think I was going through a week of SAD syndrome, or it could have been to do with taking my calorie intake down to around 1000 and having no energy to do anything. But I feel great now and have lost 6lb in the week, so I am going to up the intake just a little so I can lose less next week a max of 3lb.
These are a few tissue cases I have made today, I am liking the 'clashing colours'
This is new in a wonderful blue no fold 1 inch bias binding, for sale in blondesbackyard for only 30p per metre. This will make great ruffles along the bottom of a skirt or even down the front of top, on cuffs, or to jazz up a tote bag.
This baby pink single bias binding 1 inch folds to 1/2 inch, is perfect for binding the edge of baby quilts, this colour also goes great with grey, and I have some grey linen coming in, so I will be attempting cute bound purses in this with the grey linen. this is 45p a metre in blondesbackyard.

Have a great weekend, and I forgot to do the wool FQ giveaway, so i will be uploading tomorrow, and do the draw later in the week.

MAKE MONDAY

MONDAY'S MAKE - TISSUE CASE TUTORIAL

For all you lovely blog followers, who haven't clicked on my tutorail page and who want to have a go at something simple and make a few stocking fillers for family (I know, shouldn't be taking about Christmas yet!!!), and you have scraps of fabric you don't want to throw away and are waiting to used up, this is the perfect make in under 1/2 hour. Simple!

Let me know how you get on, and don't forget once you have mastered the art of making them, just adjust the sie for different tissue pack sizes, even large mans tissues, for dad to sit next to the bed or in the car.

And before I go I have finally purchased a now sewing machine, can't wait, as I have bee using the same machine for over 20 years, which has no flat bed as I broke it about a year ago, no cover for the bobin loader on the front, broke that too, no light as the electrics to that went a few years ago, it only had 6 stictches, ziz zag small.med.large, straight stich small, med, large, oh and backwards. So any new machine is going to be a joy to work with and this is the baby below....and it only has 294 stitches...so it is going to take me a year to use every one!!

MAKE MONDAY

Monday's Make

I Love Boden Clothing, but just don't have the cash flow to go out and buy it, so I had a lightblub moment and have set myself a weekly challage to make new or re-invent some key pieces to get my own Boden look! (Oh dear what have I done....)

So the first is the simplest for me and for anybody who can't even sew, take one pair of old or new sneekers (bargin £6 form Asda), 2 metres of bias binding that I make for my shop blondesbackyard, otherwise any of those ribbons you have stashed to match the outfit you are going to wear, I used 1m of binding for each sneeker, tie'd a knot in each end no sewing required. Voila a Bodenesque pair of pumps.

Today I made a vintage & retro peg bag for the blondedesign shop need to play around with the neck a little on the next couple I do, using retro barkcloth fabric, a few cute buttons from the stash and chocolate spotty ribbon.

Also for the blondedesign shop I have made my first couple of gadget bags, after making one for somebody at work.
This one is classic Miffy with Amy Butler full moon fabric and red spot lining, chocolate spotty ribbon and a detachable key chain.

And this is a fab fabric I picked up off ebay - shoes!!! with Amy Butler full moon fabric in lime and a funky orange zip, more Amy Butler lining, green spotty ribbon and a detachable key chain.
Both of these are padded the Miffy one being over padded for those who like to make sure their gadget doesn't get broken.

Sorry I've been gone to long....!

Well, not quite sure where the last three weeks have gone, I've had no time to up date my blog, read blogs, and make stuff! But I'm back, after working ridiculously long hours from 8am to 7pm even 9pm in the week, popping away with my mum one weekend, having friends over another weekend, I couldn't wait to get going again this weekend, in between the washing and now is time to catch up other blogs. Hope you all had a great long weekend, it's a shame to go back to work but at least the hours will be back to normal and I can home and create. So this blog is going to be long.....
My first make this weekend was the mini tote above, the lunch bag as I like to call it. Made with Amy Butler Full moon and Kathy Hall Frippery, I am going to have to buy this frippery in all the colours I can get my hands on.
This is for sale in www.blondedesign.folksy.com
Next I perfected Freddie the frog, stuffed with polyfil, so he can be used as a pincushion, I now have too many pincushions on the go around the house, and as I come up with new ones I just have to add to them, in colours to match the room, so I am going to have to make a pink and green Freddie for the sewing room!
Freddie is for sale in www.blondedesign.folksy.com
I have got into making tissue holders, they are a little bit addictive.....
the ones shown are in Summersville, Avenue print, who sells on Folksy and Etsy, My stash of Amy Butler fabrics is now running low, so need stock up, as I have found making these cute tissue holders are great to mix and match the pints. (I can see a giant stack of these filling up table soon...) I'll post further pictures of the others in zingy prints later in the week, all for sale in www.blondedesign.folksy.com

Lastly I had been waiting on some fab Japanese fabrics to arrive to make buttons, which arrived on Thursdaylittle Red riding Hood Buttons & Robot buttons, for sale in www.blondesbackyard.folksy.com I just love these linen fabric buttons

I have other buttons and bits to show you, but as it has taken me an hour to up load this lot, I will show you some more in the week, oh I have also been featured in http://www.woollylakes.blogspotwith retro Ollie the Owl...
Now off to catch up on some blog reading. Kx
